Everything about Halo 3 and Reach was scrutinized to oblivion. As a game designer, I can now understand why some of those features weren't liked.
For comparison, you stated that it took a long time for 343i to balance Halo 4's sandbox. In that same amount of time, Bungie only fixed Halo 3's melee system.

I know that. But people learned to work around most of the problems with the game, which probably explains my lack of remembrance of them.

Not what I said. It would have been better if they were fixed, but instead people were forced to work around them. It sucked. :-(

That's basically what you're saying, whether you mean to or not. There was no "work-around" for Halo 3's broken melee system. I'm off-topic on my own thread now, so this'll be my last reply. No hard feelings though. You like Halo, and that's all that matters.
