I'm not as upset by the pricing because this is something which happens a lot in the gaming industry for things like "game of the year edition" where previous DLC packs are bundled and such. Early buyers simply benefit from being able to play the game a year ahead of all the newbies. A lot of the gear we've collected in the past also won't be making a return—so there's also some exclusivity there. However if you don't see any value in that, then maybe you should wait a year or two after games are released to get the most bang for your buck.
See it's not so much the pricing that bothers me, but rather the lack of exclusive content for dedicated fans. The Collector's Edition comes with 3 new emotes, 3 new armor shaders, and 3 exotic class items with XP bonuses. These are things that a complete newbie would see absolutely no value in the game. How can they appreciate the rarity of these items when they're completely starting from scratch and barely understand what half of the stuff even means?
Meanwhile veterans and early supporters of the game will be getting: 1 Emblem, 1 Sparrow, and 1 Armor Shader. Then "and more at launch" is tacked on to the end of the feature list. I'm hoping Bungie is trolling us by hiding something big with this "and more" part. Because at the moment the list seems a bit pathetic for a package which is targeted towards the customers who help made Taken King even be possible financially.
