Your opinion.
You don't have to run like hell every time. Just run to get sufficient cover to try and turn the tables. I do it all the time.

Same could be said of any weapon. If someone gets the jump on me, I always retreat because 9 times out of 10 they will kill you. Just like I do when I get the jump on someone and they don't back off for cover.
