The status of the San 'Shyuum is one of ambiguity. The San 'Shyuum that we know, the Reformists, are all but extinct. Only a handful of them are alive, and sightings of them are sparse. The ones we aren't familiar with, the Stoics, well, their current status is even more of a mystery. The Reformists claim they are the last of their species, and that their homeworld was destroyed when Janjur Qom's star went supernova. There are doubts to this claim though as the location of Janjur Qom has never been revealed.
