While I feel ya, its a game. And look at it like I do, if it helps... the weapons are designed in the future to look cosmetically familiar to the wielder but do not function the same way. "Space magic" is a shitty excuse, for sure, but really does apply when all weapons utilize one of three magic glowing boxes found on the ground, and apparently all weapons of the same class fire the same caliber and sound relatively the same. I mean... if your gonna harsh on the design, gotta look at the absurdity of the rest.
