If the bible is the literal word of god, why havent new books been added in the last 2000 years? Are none of the televangelist worthy of writing new scripture? Surely there is one among you holy enough to further his word. a book that old has to be 100% accurate. Its not like an author ever had an agenda before.

Are you kidding?
-
Lmao says the guy who wrote a dissertation on how evolution is false cuz "the bible"
-
Are you not talking about adding to the Bible? Note: I see you haven't read all of the OP.
-
Why cant the bible be added to?
-
"...and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book" (Revelation 22:19, ESV). Translation:
Adding to scripture equals damnation.
-
Thats specific to the book of revalations. The bible is a compilation of books. Adding to the books doesnt take away from it. Try again.

Edited by SSG ACM: 5/20/2015 4:21:23 AM"Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. Do not add to his words, lest he rebuke you and you be found a liar" (Proverbs 30:5-6, ESV). In any case, you are not to add to God's Word since that would imply that we as a congressional party of humans can determine that more to the Bible needs to be considered canonical. Sure, accepting such a philosophy would inevitable have us assume that God actually isn't immutable, but as exhibited in scripture through countless exhibitions, He is God.

Of course twisting his words is blasphemy. But he is a living god. Does he not continue to talk to people even today? Why cant others who hear from god be accepted?
-
Edited by SSG ACM: 5/20/2015 7:32:03 PMBecause God no longer operated like that since the apostolic age, no one today literally talks to God since we now have His Word and Holy Ghost. All of those who claim to have been in physical contact with God is all untrue. How did God act as He appeared to every human after the death of Christ, He came to every individual in His glorious state. Today, that no longer occurs since we have His Word.

So what's the point of praying if he isn't going to answer you? And everyone who claims to have heard his voice is lying?

how can you believe in the literal interpretation of the bible, then arbitrarily decide that God no longer talks to anyone. Just you can't hear him, doesn't mean he's silent. we're created in his image, yet you would have me believe that a parent would stop mentoring his child.

Edited by SSG ACM: 5/20/2015 6:09:41 AM
How can you believe in the literal interpretation of the bible?
Very easily, and not everything in the Bible apparently is not to be taken literally. Knowing when to switch between the metaphoric and the literal is the tricky part.
...then arbitrarily decide that God no longer talks to anyone.
Why do you think the Bible exists? Did Noah, Abraham, Job, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel, Samuel, John, the Saul who later became Paul, etc have the Bible? Aren't all the apostles dead? Why would God need to continue to talk to humanity even if He made His written Word already available freely?
Just [because] you can't hear him, doesn't mean He's silent.
Are you admitting that He's silent since you did just state that no one can hear Him?
...we're created in his image...
Do you honestly understand the context of that statement in Genesis?
...yet you would have me believe that a parent would stop mentoring his child.
If we are going to stick with a child analogy, let's be precise. When did I state that God no longer mentors His "children?" Do you know what the point of the "Holy Spirit" is? If you do indeed like to advocate that God literally talks to individuals, then I guess we are submit to the word of those individuals even though when they talk about their experiences it goes completely against the Bible? Do you know how Mormonism was formed?
-
your version of Christianity is about the most depressing I've ever heard. good luck converting people.
-
This statement doesn't answer any of my questions, and you think that having the Bible alone is depressing?
-
The fact that you said god doesnt talk to anyone anymore is depressing.
-
Edited by SSG ACM: 5/20/2015 6:40:38 AMWhy is that depressing? We have the Bible, and it is true that God doesn't talk to anyone anymore because of the presence of His Word and Holy Spirit. Remember when Jesus ascended? What did He say?
-
he's been trying to talk to you your whole life, but you closed your ears and hardened your heart. He won't stop trying though. Maybe one day you'll hear him before it's too late.
-
Are you literally talking about God physically talking with you?
-
There is so much wrong with your statement. It may take me a while to load some information.
-
I got time....
-
Did you see my above explanation?

Hello?
I guess this is what Demonwarfare meant when he said people mute.
