How About ... Cosmetic Nodes on Gear?

Hey, err'buddy! So I was looking at some of my gear today, and if you're an owner of the Helm of Saint-14 or the Radiant Dance Machines, or perhaps No Backup Plans, you might have had a wish that you could change the color of the light effect to something that wasn't ... well, kinda pink, or really green, or super purple. ...which got me thinking! What if we had a set of nodes on certain gear that would change the colors of light effects to a different preset color? Radiant Dance Machines, for instance, what if we had a set of nodes that toggled from the Default green to a Solar Orange, Arc Blue, or Void Purple? The same can be easily said of the Helm of Saint-14, with its default pink light, or Solar Orange, Arc Blue, or Void Purple. (Unless the Helm already is a Void Purple ... I'm not positive it is or isn't.) A common complaint has been in how rigid certain Exotics are in regard to Shaders and such, and this could be a fairly easy to implement means of having some aesthetic input into how our characters look and to better differentiate from the guys around us. Plus, using established gear nodes, it could be built upon a preexisting foundation that we see in weapons with different sights, the difference being that instead of cosmetic changes in weapon appearance with the different sights, it'd be the coloration of the light effects. This could extend to a number of different gear, like the light on the Battlecage of Kabr, visibly representing the Solar/Arc settings on Murmur, and the colors of the lights on the Treads and Facade of the Hezen Lords. Something like this could even handle alternate weapon skins/models that could support merit-based trophy adornments for completing feats with particular weapons, like scratching kill tally marks on No Land Beyond, or a Gjallarhorn black with carbon scoring from use, or alternate paint jobs for Monte Carlo. I'm tellin' ya, guys - cosmetic nodes!

  • if the colour of the light could fit with the shader it could be cool. So if I wear helm of Saint 14 with glowhoo shader the pink light should be the glowhoo colour theme
