i dont believe you. you dont believe in god, yet you think "god did it" is a sufficient answer to a scientific question?

Edited by RichardSalad: 5/1/2015 2:08:38 AMI'm non-religious. I said that "God did it" is answer to why because it is a simplified form of what most Christians will tell you if you ask them why the universe exists. Example: Evolution: Why is there a universe? I don't know. How are people as they are today? Because there was a need to adapt and evolve to meet our conditions on earth. Creation: Why is there a universe? God made a universe because he was lonely and wanted a companion made in his likeness to spend eternity with. How are people as they are today? I don't know. "God did it" is as much an answer to why, as "because Evolution" is to how.
Evolution: Why is there a universe? I don't know.
evolution doesnt cover the origin of the universe...
-
And that is why evolution cannot answer the question of why. I have been trying to explain this.
-
science can explain why. just not when you use evolution to try to explain why the universe began. that's like using a ruler to measure the temperature, yiour using the wrong tool.
-
Science can make a reasonable explanation for the universe, yes, but that's not what this thread is about, is it?
-
Science can make a reasonable explanation for the universe, yes,
you were just saying it couldnt
-
No, I said evolution can't. If you think that all science consists of evolution then I have some news for you...
it doesn't
He does make a good point and I acknowledge it but I was talking specifically about evolution not science in general.
