All gear except trials/prison maxes at 36 light, or lvl32. Ascending adds 6 light per piece. So to get to 33 you ascend 2 pieces, and to get 34 you ascend a complete set. Also ascending is easier on exotics, as it doesn't require the new material. So if you have 3 characters you will have to ascend 9 legendaries and 3 exotics total to be 34. Everyone on the forums is freaking out about upgrading fatebringer and other guns, but for me anyways gear comes first. I bet a lvl 34 wielding a 300 fatebringer is more powerful than a 33 worth a 365 one.

Wait, faction vanguard and crucible armor only get you to 33? Did they say that? I must have missed it...
-
all new purchasable gear is capped at 32 at purchase, you have to get the new material to ascend it to lvl 34 gear.
-
I assumed faction gear would cap at Lv33, like TDB faction gear. Even better, if it can get us to Lv34! :-D
-
All vendor gear in HoW has 36 light getting you to level 32, not 33.
-
Probably level 33 right from vendor. Then you need to ascend it to 34 seems logical
-
It only gets you to 32. You need to ascend 2 pieces to get to 33 and all 4 to get to 34
-
It can get you to 34 All armor can get you there

I wasn't sure about the Tower vendors. I'll have to watch the video again. If so, even better!
