You could have been easily carried through a raid, or just got a checkpoint for gorgon chest, Atheon, deathsinger or Crota so that argument is moot. I've had a TLW drop after a Roc strike, which took little or no effort, one on deathsinger, one on Atheon and 2 from nightfall... But I got my first after soloing 3 weekly heroics saving my coins and buying it from Xur... It took a lot more time and effort than any of the above and I had nobody helping me.. It's the ONLY TLW that I earned all by myself

Well you solo'd now all someone has to do is join matchmaking and be carried.

Yeah... I've been stuck with a couple of hitchhikers in the last few weeks... Just ban these people from matchmaking already... There is no excuse for this at all...
