Recently Destiny has been acting kind of funny. Constant disconnect error codes and one in particular without an error code which states something to this effect: that my "account has been signed in elsewhere". This is a breakdown of the observations and symptoms of the problems occurring. To be blunt I still cannot be able to blame the problems on Bungies' servers until I can rule out that my current connection is at its most optimal and Destiny is still not working. Logic.
Note: At the end of this post I do offer somewhat of a fix but it does require you to get into your router and disconnect all wireless options while being LANed in.
Please try this but it will require you to disconnect every connection to the router minus your own to Destiny.
Observations and symptoms:
PS4- two separate locations (Tampa to Orlando)- two different routers (ARRIS, BELKIN)
When it first started (sometime after the DLC) the disconnects have been quite minimal. Overtime and to the present day it has been at a disconnect every 10-30 minute interval. Normally the disconnects happen right before I was about to complete a mission and were a constant terror inside the crucible. The error codes were primarily the ones commenting on the animal kingdom and occasionally it wanted to blame my NAT type (only happened twice).
I have tried connecting at two different locations with the same issues and using two different sources of connections. Wifi and LAN. However, upon inspection of my LAN cable I realized it was broken on the +brown lead. The wifi connections were ranging from 30Mbps Download and 10Mbps Upload. Following Bungies help site using portfowarding.com (well, kinda using portfoward, this stuff isn't new to me) I ported my ARRIS modem/router and static ip my PS4 for the "best capabilites".
After the porting, the problem still exist.
Also tried the DMZ, still a fail.
Next is to fix my LAN cable (which I just completed 5 minutes ago) and see how things go. I will update on this.
I also have a brother who plays his XBOX one at the same time... hmmm, could this be an issue as well? I will find out when I get him to shut his XBOX one down for a day or when I get to my place in Tampa.
Theories:
I have four main theories on the disconnect issues.
1. Destiny has been working fine before the launch of the DLC and even a little bit after. However, and to put this quite short, I believe Destiny is asking more out of our connection than it has before. Maybe this has something to do with the Crota's hotfix and shutting down the disconnect cheese? Maybe.
2. Wifi maybe junk. Period. I would hate to believe this because I love the wifi, great technology.
3. Destiny has an issue with server error codes and a bug fix will be needed on their end. Seeing that many of us are complaining about this though and nothing has really been said about it, other than we are the problem, I doubt this will happen unless a certain ratio of players are affected.
4. My brother's XBOX needs to be BURNED!!!
Conclusions:
I have just rethreaded my LAN cable heads. Running on 50Mbps Download and 20 Mbps Upload. NAT type is still at 2. To be honest getting to a Type 1 is useless for those wondering, NAT 2 should be ok... but i say should with speculation because there are some hardcore MMO fans out there, and if you guys can explain why this is, then we'll be glad to open our ears.
So I will be running Destiny hardcore tonight. We shall see if the LAN cable has reduced the issue, made it worse or perhaps remained the same. If this fails, Destiny will be to blame and there is not much us small consumers can do other than hope they can fix it for us. The way we can fight back is to not buy Destiny 2... I hear HALO is going to be great. Start saving up for a second console PS4 users, we are to start double fisting up in this ish.
Drop some comments on what you think and if your problems have been similar to mine. If you have any questions about trying to portfoward I can help with that as well. DMZ is great way to "open everything up" but thats exactly what it means and you are leaving the PS4 unsecured. Just saying but I can help with that as well.
Update:
LAN wired in PS4. Error weasel popped.
LAN wired in PS4 with static ip and ported modem. Error weasel popped.
43Mbps on Download and 10Mbps on Upload.
Conclusion:
Destiny servers are to blame. Every possible solution and resource has been exhausted on my end to fix the issue. For those looking for the same answers, sorry, but there is none. Contacted Bungies about this some time ago. Reply was basically, "We don't have time to answer you." THANKS BUNGIE!!!!! YOU ARE THE GREATEST!!!!! Sucks that I already bought the stupid DLC and won't be able to play it. What a waste of good art due to poor networking engineers.
Edit: new progression
I may have found something that works. First wire in ps4 by LAN line. Also wire in a laptop to the same router. On your laptop run command for ip addresses. Find default gateway and type it into web browser. This will launch the router setup. Password could vary depending on the make and so can the next steps. Find the wireless setup and disable it. Save and exit... You can experiment in here if you would like but be careful and remember what you do so you can undo it. If not, completely reset router by pushing in reset for 10 sec. or more.
The reason this is working, based on my theory is, Destiny is requiring a major amount of bandwidth to run. Even the highest speeds have trouble reaching this minimum requirement. By doing this it will ensure that no Mbps are being lost or shared. Even when I have nobody home and don't disable this I get weaseled out. After performing this method everything seems to work relatively well.
Let me know how this works for!!!! You can find a few YouTube videos on how to enter the router setup. Here an example: ipconfig_ static ip

Edited by Ismail_Yucel: 4/16/2015 8:21:27 AMGoodjob. Can you please test data usage for an hour or two and inform us. As i read from several topics, past measurements was, Destiny uses 300-500 mb of data download per hour. I agree with one of your theories. Destiny may be demanding more data usage aftee dlc. By the way for those who has limited contract with their ISP, BECAREFULL! If you play Destiny two hours a day, that makes 60 hours per month and assuming minumum data usage (300 mb), you download 18 gb of data. So, you may have a limited contract with your ISP, and they can lower your download speed after a certain data usage which will affect your gameplay.
