After very minimal effort and only a few story missions and strikes, we manage to get our hands on Murmur; easily one of the best Fusion Rifles in the game, with the ability to swap between damage types... something no other weapon can do.
But after a dozen or so story missions in the base game, all we get is a Rare-quality Pulse Rifle which is only useful in the Crucible. I've had The Stranger's Rifle sitting in my vault for a while now, and I think it's high time it got buffed to Legendary; same perks, but with 331 Attack. That way you can use it more effectively for high-level challenges.
I also think it should get an additional perk; "Vex Disruptor". Basically the same as the Hive Disruptor perk on the Crota's End weapons, only it increases damage against Vex majors & ultras instead of Hive.
One thing they could do is allow you to convert the Stranger's Rifle to Legendary just like you do with Husk of the Pit/Eidolon Ally. Add a Legendary crafting item like this:

[i]-A shard taken from a Vex shrine in the Fields of Glass on Mercury, luminous with unknown energies.[/i]
^^^Basically the Stranger's Rifle equivalent of the Embalming Orb you use on Husk of the Pit. You'd be able to grab it from a character in the Tower (probably the Speaker) in exchange for 10 Motes of Light.
