LoA can o ask your opinion on the whole 'sprint' controversy we seem to have going on. It's not lore related (I guess) but I'm having a hard time understanding other Halo players thoughts, feelings and reasons behind disliking the mechanic.

The main reason is it allows players to run from a fight they're losing. Essentially, with the other Halo's if you did something dumb or irrational, you weren't going to escape unless you were carefully positioned. With sprint, it's much easier to escape those hairy situations. Another reason sprint is disliked, is that it doesn't do anything an increased base movement speed would do, essentially making you wonder what's the point?
-
True I guess but at least in H5 sprint has a risk/reward factor with the shields not charging if you sprint.
-
Yea you can run but your shields won't regeneration until you stop. So........ I don't see the point for all the upset over it
-
Because you can still run away from fights you shouldn't be able to. No shield regen is great, sure. But if you're running away from a fight you're going to be under fire anyway and your shields wouldn't be recharging in the first place. It's a lot of hassle for a problem that would be solved if they just removed it. Not saying this is my view, I'm just offering up anti-sprint people's POV.

I see your point but if you run you have no shield regeneration chance at all (while in precious halo games if they miss while shooting your shields could regen) so they can foolow and kill. Or you might run into another player. Or since you're running you're on the mini map so everyone knows where you are. Just because you can sprint doesn't mean your always gonna get away. I actually expect most people die while trying to run
-
I suppose if you're new to the game that that stuff may happen. But even if you have a loose understanding of the maps you can easily cut behind a corner, and wait. And of course if you give chase you risk the factor of running into one of their teammates, or even getting reversal'd. One of the ways people have been justifying their reasoning is the match lengths for te Halo 5 beta. Many matches ran out of time before someone won, something that was nearly unheard of in previous games. This could be attributed to many things, but the main factor people bring up is the fact that fire fights are drawn out longer because of how easily escapable fights are.

I figure they will adjust it. Anyways sprinting should have been in way before. I meam how are we suppose to be badass online spartan warriors and no run or climb. I thought the halo 5 beta felt more natural like how a spartan should move
-
Before it was assumed we were sprinting. Why can't these advanced super soldiers still aim while boosting their speed, if only slightly? And anyways, gameplay =/= canon anyways.
-
I never assumed I was sprinting I guess I never got the memo. Because they have to swing their arms while they sprint....duh
-
Is that the definition of sprinting? Swinging your arms around?
-
It seems so. At least in a FPS
-
Some FPS's incorporate sprint mechanics that still allow you to shoot while running. Titanfall allows you to do it, albeit with a perk, as well as Brink but we shouldn't ever talk about that game. But, most FPS's show their soldiers as just plain normal humans, Spartans are advanced soldiers. Shouldn't they be able to control their guns enough while sprinting?
-
Some do alot dont. Should just put titanfall movements in and call it good. I'd play that

Eh, too fast paced for Halo. If they did that, then running away would be a REALLY big problem. Unless they took out shields altogether.
