You posted a article 2 years old. 4k tech has matured and the understanding of the tech is more refined. The better answer is 4k makes a difference depending on how far you sit from the TV. The larger the screen the closer you have to be to notice the difference in 4k vs 1080p. Upscaling 1080p doesn't do too much either, but the picture is still very nice.
