Well even Darwin had his doubts about his theory. there are fossil records that Darwin could not explain. To completely believe this theory is just as much of a leap of faith as not believing at all.

Fossil record has expanded, DNA has been discovered, mutations have been discovered, more organisms have been documented, Mendel happened, anatomy and physiology have improved, etc.

Cambrian explosion is still not explained.

The Gould and Eldridge hypothesis is the best possible explanation for the Cambrian explosion. However, in the recognition of our ignorance, the theory of evolution is still a thing. It has been observed in nature, recorded in the fossil record, and in the residual structures in organisms today. The lack of knowledge for what happened 700 million years ago does not invalidate evolution.
