I've never lied about my cars. People will ask me "Oh is it fast?" "Is it a real GT-4?", etc and I always answer honestly. I've never seen any reason to lie. My guess is some lie to appear "cool" in front of their peers. But the whole thing is people know when you're lying. I've had people tell me they turboed their car or swapped the engine out when clearly it's a stock car and you can easily tell they have no idea what they're saying. I just don't get the point of lying about your cars. It makes zero sense to me.

No reason to lie my turboed 2013 sonic is nice but I'd much Rather drive my 98 Silverado z71

People lie about cars for pretty much the same reason many people buy fancy cars. to inflate their sense of self worth through pointless ways.
-
Obviously because physical possessions clearly determine their worth as a person, so they need to lie in order to make them seem more reputable and better than others.
I'm kidding, I don't genuinely believe that, but i'm sure some people out there do. It's a sad thought, really.
