That's what happened to a thread of mine at the Destiny forum entitled, "The Last Word needs a nerf". I can only assume that a good amount of users over there reported it and now it's in the Ninja's que for moderation.
The original post itself is quite innocent; it really is a simple request for a weapon to be nerfed. There's no bad language, no offensive content, and it most certainly isn't spam. However, the responses I've gotten are some of the most vile and hateful things I've seen in my time on bungie.net. Here are some examples from the thread:
Shove your damn PvP nerfs up your ass

Shutup pussy waaaa Waaaa cry babys

Yet another crying nerf thread stfu and man up you pole dancing chimp

No f\/ck you.

Fùcking fàggots always bitching
Go away
And so on. #Destiny has big problem in terms of hostile users, and I see very little being done about it. I assume those same hostile users reported my thread, and now I'm at risk while they get away scot-free to continue spewing their vile words at people. And they keep doing it. It's not just my threads; I see these users do the same thing in other threads.
How can there be a discussiom of topics on #Destiny if a mass amount of users abuse the report button on threads they simply disagree with? The report button is not a "disagree button"; if they really don't like what I or others have to say, then they can hide my posts or just mute me. But they shouldn't be reporting threads and responding to them in a vile manner.
Anyone else think this is a problem?

Edited by Cobravert: 3/2/2015 7:00:14 PMThe tone of a lot of newer users is extremely harsh and with no apparent concern of making posts that are not filled with all manner of explicit insults or general douchbaggery. I think we could blame the webteam for these. Sure they didn't post them, but they enable it. This leads back into the whole discussion of B.old to B.next, but it is fundamentally where it all fell apart. Until the web team see fit to actually do something more than self moderation tools (which effectively do very little to quell this very problem), and reinstate ACTUAL rules with REAL enforcement, it will never improve. B.net will continue to degrade and decline because new people are seeing HOW NOT to act on this site, and as long as they see it being ok, then they will adopt the same mentality, furthering the problem. Reporting only does so much if no one cares to do it when it is obviously needed. Misuse of reporting as in this case where they close a non-abusive thread should also be addressed.
