VoG is so much more interesting and reliant on teamwork, in my opinion.
The Vault's still fun, but the Crota hallway was uninteresting after the first week.
It's literally a series of hallways. And even when it's almost out in the open, you move point to point or across a bridge.
Then you turn right and fight Crota.
To each their own, though. As far as I can tell, the majority of Destiny players prefer VoG to CE because it's a better-designed, more varied set of encounters and spaces.
VoG: Opening the door with teamwork, platforming to the confluxes, defending the confluxes, covering oracles and your buddies' asses, facing the templar and waves of harpies, platforming down to the Gorgon cave, navigating the Gorgon cave, platforming to the vault, time-traveling to get the relic while holding open a portal, holding the conflux, and finally facing Atheon as a randomly split team.
CE: Stand on platform, cross bridge, fall, run, defend, cross bridge, run through hallway, defend, cross bridge, defend, run through hallway, fall, face Ir-Yût (pretty cool encounter, actually), defend, stand on platform, face Crota.
If you can describe something in a game primarily using the words "run, bridge, fall, defend," and "hallway" there's not all that much going on.

Edited by Semperfi1999: 2/11/2015 8:32:39 PMPersonally i find the VOG to be so dark in some areas that literally turning gamma all the way up I still couldnt see....so it ended up being reliant on memorizing where to go towards the next drop. In truth you treated CE raid a little unfairly as I can do the same thing with VOG Stand on platform and defend, simple jumps to a larger platform defend, same platform kill oracles (IE defend), same platform kill templar, jump down long distances, play easiest game of hide and seek ever, jump on platforms, teleport and defend, antheon I find VOG less interesting because all all the complex rules end up bugging out very easily. Crota End doesnt bug out very often and when it does it ends up being more due to enemy AI. Wherease in VOG randomly the game will decide to not teleport 3 ppl but 2 ppl and just wipe everyone....along with all sorts of other bugs I encountered. VOG generally was like slogging through mud even when you knew what to do since the game could randomly decide that certain requirements were not met and will just kill you. I felt it was less team oriented and more can we get a bug free run this time around? With Crota I feel timing is far more crucial than anything else. If you time things correctly and you are skilled you can make mincemeat out of the raid and the strats allow you to try mutiple ways to attack the enemy. Last time I did Crota hard run I ran sword and we took him down on the first try.

I've never had any real issues with seeing in VoG on my 42" LCD. The first time, I was blind, but I adjusted the gamma up two notches and haven't had a problem since. You can be reductive about VoG, but it's a much more varied set of encounters and spaces than CE. You are the very first person I've heard say they prefer CE over VoG. Like I said, to each their own. As an exercise in design and gameplay, CE is much less interesting and fun to me than VoG. And I rarely encountered gamebreaking bugs in VoG, and when I did, I adjusted and kept playing.
