This. Make dual wielding a thing. Balance it by removing melee while dual wielding and the obvious range/accuracy decrease.
-
No need to remove melee, you just lose aim down sights when dual-wielding (that's typically how it is implemented anyway)
-
Yeah but do they just drop a gun and magically pick it up in two seconds while they melee? Sorry I just like a little realism.
-
However they Melee right now while holding a giant rocket launcher Gameplay > Realism
-
Haha I get your point. But when are you so close with a rocket launcher that you can melee? I was trying to think of the animation and then I realized I have never done it.
-
If you have rocket equipped and someone else gets real close, you should know that your best options are grenade or melee, and not pulling that trigger (unless you are fine with misadventure)
-
Pistol whip?
-
Maybe. But melees like energy drain or throwing knife have different animations.
-
Disable melee abilities
-
So you want a melee that does almost no damage and gives you no bonuses. If you really want it then sure.
-
In exchange for dual wielding? I think its fair... It could do the normal amount of damage that your melee does when the ability is depleted... What are you even talking about?
-
For high level content, a melee is pointless with no ability. For dual wielding pistols you could add a pistol whip animation, but what if there are weapons in the future like SMGs? The reason I bring this up is because of how Bungie handled this in Halo. You would literally drop your right weapon in favor of a melee attack.
-
I'm just talking about a specific gun. An exotic. And if melee abilities were really so crucial to success they would have used an unused button for the ability and another for a regular melee. Plus I'm thinking a more PvP oriented gun anyway
-
Gotcha. That's fair.

Meh...
